چکیده

Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in cardiac MRI (cMRI) has been described as a valid tool to discriminate between cardiac diseases. It has been postulated that MLE especially occurs in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and myocarditis with a prognostic impact in these patients. Nevertheless, it can be difficult to differentiate true MLE from common artifacts as motion blur, partial volume effects (PVE) or wrong inversion times (TI), especially for the IO.

Improved 3D late gadolinium enhancement MRI for patients with arrhythmia or heart rate variability

Background Arrhythmia and heart rate variability have adverse effects on the image quality of Late Gadolinium Enhancement (LGE). Due to the incomplete recovery after an inversion pulse, changes in the RR-interval length induce a k-space weighting, which results in ghosting artifacts in the images. While the impact of heart-rate variability is less pronounced in 2D LGE due to short scan times (1...

Myocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods

Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Atypical Distribution of Late Gadolinium Enhancement of the Left Ventricle on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in Classical Anderson-Fabry Disease

Anderson-Fabry disease (AFD) is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by a deficiency of alphagalactosidase A. The estimated birth prevalence of AFD ranges from 1:40,000 to 1:117,000 worldwide. Approximately 50% of patients with AFD may have cardiac involvement, and malignant arrhythmias are the predominant cause of the substantially increased morbidity and reduced life expectancy. Curr...

Reduced native right ventricular T1 in Anderson-Fabry disease as compared to patients with pulmonary hypertension

Methods In images from 20 subjects with FD and 7 subjects with pulmonary hypertension (PH), the inferior RV wall was assessed for the appearance of hypertrophy, to identify subjects with sufficient wall thickness for T1 analysis. Images were acquired on 1.5T Siemens systems (Sonata and Avanto) using the SASHA T1 mapping method[3] for all studies: 70° flip angle, 1.31 ms echo time, 2.62 ms repet...
